The SPD-SL pedals are compatible with different ranges of spring tension adjustment. Standard, soft, and wide settings allow for the optimal range according to personal preferences or the situation.

- Connection between the shoe and the pedal

Cleats are the connection between the shoe and the pedal. SHIMANO pedals and cleats have been developed to work as a system and fit perfectly to ensure optimal power transfer and safety. Cleats can wear down with intensive use and especially when walking. Therefore, they should be replaced to maintain comfort and reliability levels.

- The stiffness is designed for a perfect fit with SHIMANO SPD-SL pedals. This cleat has the appropriate shape for SPD-SL pedals.

The walkable design has blue/yellow/red ground contact points to prevent wear on the part of the cleat that engages with the pedal.

Cleats wear out over time and should be replaced periodically. Cleats should be replaced when it starts to become difficult to disengage them, or if they start to disengage with much less effort than was needed when they were new.
