Galfer Bike launches its innovative fixed version Disc Shark® to the market, the most comprehensive MTB brake disc at the moment. Its innovative laser cutting manufacturing process has allowed an optimal design geometry to achieve the best possible performance.

In 2021, Galfer Bike started to develop a first prototype of the new brake disc for the "gravity" disciplines (DH/Enduro), which was used by the riders of the UCI DH Commencal Muc-Off team during the past season. With this disc, and together with the Galfer Pro brake pads, a World Championship was achieved with Myriam Nicole, as well as several victories and World Cup podiums with Amaury Pierron and Thibaut Daprela.

In 2022, the disc has evolved and improved considerably thanks to the R&D department of Galfer and collaborations with Martin Maes (Orbea Fox Enduro Team) or Alex Marin (IJ Racing), among others. In this way, Galfer Bike launches its new Disc Shark® to the market for the most demanding "gravity" DH and Enduro users. In a second phase, it will also be available for Cross-Country.

One of its peculiarities are the internal fins that give the disc its name: the Disc Shark®. These fins, together with the small internal round holes of the track, allow to reduce the working temperature of the disc, while the external Wave design and the transverse windows of the track give it a powerful and homogeneous bite over the entire contact surface with the pad.

Its main features are:

1.- GREATER BRAKING POWER: thanks to the Disc Shark® design, this disc requires less pressure in the braking circuit under more demanding fatigue conditions, which means less effort to brake. This translates into a 5-10% more braking power under usual conditions.

2.- MORE STABILITY: even under the most unfavorable temperature conditions (with large slopes, high speeds, a lot of ambient heat, and high weight), the Disc Shark® maintains a stable and consistent behavior at all times. The structural design adapts to the different disc diameters to achieve adequate rigidity in each measure.

3.- LOWER WORKING TEMPERATURE: the Disc Shark® drastically reduces the working temperature by 30% compared to the high-end discs on the current market and, in addition, is built in a single piece to achieve greater solidity.

4.- MORE BRAKE PAD DURABILITY: with the Disc Shark®, the life of the pads is increased by 25-40% under usual conditions.

5.- LOWER DISC WEIGHT: The Disc Shark® is lighter than most high-end brake discs on the market thanks to its optimized design, both on the braking track and in the core.
